Automotive Parts and Service Association of Illinois Scholarships and Student Loans

 

APSA of IL is the regional automotive wholesaler association for Illinois.  If you are a resident of Illinois, meet the additional qualifications below, and submit a complete application, you will be considered by APSA of IL for this scholarship and/or student loan program:

 

Ralph Silverman Memorial Foundation Scholarship Program

The Ralph Silverman Memorial Foundation was founded to promote quality and high standards through education within the automotive aftermarket industry.  The late Ralph Silverman, whom this program honors, was a stalwart in the cause for industry advancement through education.

To be eligible for this scholarship, an applicant must be:

  • Sponsored by an APSA of IL member, including a letter of recommendation from an APSA of IL member;
  • Pursuing a career in the automotive aftermarket;
  • A legal resident of Illinois;
  • A high school graduate or possess a GED certificate;
  • Be enrolled or planning to enroll as a full-time undergraduate student in a curriculum leading to a degree or certificate in an accredited college, university or technical institute;

The Ralph Silverman Memorial Foundation awards up to six $500 scholarships each academic year.  Recipients may re-apply each academic year for up to four 4 years.

To be eligible for this student loan, an applicant must be:

  • Sponsored by an APSA of IL member, including a letter of recommendation from an APSA of IL member;
  • A legal resident of Illinois;
  • A high school graduate or possess a GED certificate;
  • Be enrolled or planning to enroll as a full-time undergraduate student in a curriculum leading to a degree or certificate in an accredited college, university or technical institute;

Loans will be awarded at the discretion of the Ralph Silverman Memorial Foundation Student Loan / Scholarship Committee to chosen applicants who meet the eligibility requirements and will be based on academic achievement and need of financial assistance.  Recipients of loans are limited to $1,000 per academic year, but may reapply each academic year to an accumulative amount of no more than $4,000.

Repayment of the student loan shall be made over a period commencing no later than three (3) months after the date on which the recipient ceases to be enrolled in a full-time course of study at an educational institution satisfactory to the holder of this note.  All funds will be paid back to the foundation interest free in monthly payments of $55.55 until the accumulative loan amount is paid back.  Default on payment will result in interest applied to the remaining balance at the current prime rate.
